Slow Road
Healthy play
Browser games are quick to open and easy to keep playing. A little planning keeps them a good part of the day.
01Plan the session before it starts
Decide how many rounds you will play or when you will stop. Our timer on the home page can help with breaks.
02For parents and carers
Try a game yourself first, keep play in shared rooms for younger children, and use the family settings in your browser and device to limit time and block pop-ups.
03Adverts, accounts and chat
Every review tells you whether a game shows adverts, needs an account or lets players talk to each other, so you can decide before your child plays.
04If gaming stops being fun
If it is hard to stop, or gaming is getting in the way of sleep, school, work or people, talk to someone you trust or your GP. The contacts below are free.

Pick the stop first
Decide on a number of rounds or a finishing time before you open the tab.
- 2
Twenty, twenty, twenty
Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds.
- 3
Close the tab, not the evening
Browser games never really end. When the round is over, close the tab and stand up.
- 4
Not in the last hour
Bright screens keep you awake. Finish 30 to 60 minutes before bed.
- 5
Use the real site
Bookmark the official address. Copy sites often add extra adverts and pop-ups.
- 6
Keep accounts optional
Most games here work without signing up. Only make an account if you want to save progress.
- 7
Play side by side
Many of these games are better with someone watching or taking turns. Talk about what you made.
- 8
Ask if it stops being fun
If gaming starts getting in the way of sleep, school or people, talk to someone you trust. Help is free.
